Shavonti's Turnt-up THIRTY in Turks

In October, 1/2 of Double Dose (Shavonti) turned the BIG 3-0. It was an absolute must that we visit a bucket list destination to celebrate! Turks and Caicos has been on our radar for the past year and we did it with a bang! Official Double Dose of LA style with the help of Bye Chance (www.byechance.com) who planned and organized our trip!

We flew American Airlines on a red eye from LA to Miami, then from Miami to Turks and Caicos. Our return flight was similar.

We typically stay in hotels when we travel but since we were traveling with a large group of Shavonti’s closest friends, a house made the most sense. We booked the villa through Luxury Retreats (www.luxuryretreats.com) and the house was perfect and exactly as advertised. We stayed in a 6 bedroom 7 bathroom villa made for the Gods, Villa Awa. Villa Awa was located on Grace Bay and was perfect for entertaining! Villa Awa had a large heated pool, jacuzzi, fire pit, large outside and inside dining, private beach with kayaks and paddleboards, and a sound system and Wi-Fi that worked down to the beach, which was a major key! Villa Awa’s staff was fantastic and super accommodating. The house comes with 4-5 staff members, which includes a concierge, chef, housekeepers, and 24-hour on site house manager/security.

We spent the majority of our time at the Villa, in true Double Dose of LA fashion lol. There was no reason to leave; we had everything we needed and more right at home. Delicious food, pool, tequila and crystal clear ocean. The ocean in Turks is to die for! We have traveled many places and Grace Bay, where our villa was located, has the clearest water with sand that felt like silk! No exaggeration! The water is pretty shallow and warm so it’s perfect for you to get in and live your best life. Grace Bay is ranked one of the top beaches in the world and totally lives up to the hype.

Yoga- To get the blood flowing, Bye Chance scheduled a morning yoga session at our villa with Laura from Retreat Yoga & Wellness Studios.

Massages- What better way to relax on vacation than with private massages at the villa?! These were some of the best massages we’ve ever had, and Villa Awa was equip with a full service massage room, this experience couldn’t have been any better!

We only left the house for three activities: the fish fry, yacht day, and dinner.

Fish Fry- The fish fry takes place every Thursday on the island and is like a festival with lots of food vendors, liquor and music. The fish fry is a main attraction on the island, so be prepared for long vendor lines. Island time is a thing, so prepare your patience hahaha.

Yacht Day- We spent half a day cruising the beautiful island on a private yacht sipping tequila and making memories. The yacht service arranged for jet skis to meet us in the middle of the ocean. We really enjoyed ourselves!

Dinner at the Wymara- We had a birthday dinner for Shavonti at Stelle, which is located at the Wymara hotel. I had the homemade tagliatelle and Shavonti had lobster linguine, DELICIOUS! We really enjoyed the food here and the hotel is beautiful! Probably one of the best hotels on the island, I would strongly recommend you visit this hotel at least for dinner or drinks.

On our final night in Turks, Bye Chance arranged for a farewell lobster dinner on the beach. The perfect ending to an amazing 5 days in paradise!

I can’t end the blog without warning you about the mosquito population in Turks. It could be due to the time of year, I’m not 100% sure, but these darn mosquitoes seem to follow us to each destination we visit! With that being said, pack lots of “deep wood” bug spray and prepare to still get bit hahaha.
